The vision for Hoof and Paw was born out of real life experiences encountered by the people who founded Hoof and Paw Animal Response Team - people that came mainly from a background in animal rescues and shelters.

Those experiences include the many California wildfires from the Camp Fire of 2010 through the latest fires of 2025, and the local Herriman fire of 2010, as well as other disasters such as hurricanes in the east, and tornados in the midwest.

Another motivation for making Hoof and Paw a reality is witnessing low income and homeless people struggling to feed their animals.

Recognizing that rescues and shelters - while equipped to provide a safe place, proper care, and hopefully a forever home - are not generally equipped to go out into disaster or other areas of need in order to help locate, secure, and care for those animals.

With a well trained staff, and working along with other agencies such as FEMA, missions, and local authorities, we strive to fill that gap. We will go out and find the animals that need assistance, bring them to safety, care for them, and either reunite them with their families, or find them a temporary home while preparing them for and finding them a permanent one.
